I've been pretty busy with school but managed to get a few, OK more than a few cabs done in the last two weeks. I'm going to divide the group into two parts, this one which has stones that I could just grind, and another where each stone took some type of extra work.
I've really been struggling with my photos now that the sun is too low in the sky to take outside pics. I'm convinced the problem is my camera so next time I will need to try Bejewelme's camera to make sure I'm not the problem. ;D
I've really been getting into doing small cabs, well really small cabs, out of finer gemstone material. I dop them with superglue on the tip of a golf tee. These are about 1/2" to 3/4" tall. Top left is unknown, any ideas? Top right is Australian potch opal with little color (the color in the picture is off), bottom left is aquamarine and the bottom right is sapphire (which is much more blue in person).
Kindapurplishite. No idea what this is. 1 14" tall x 3/4" wide.
Sodalite. I did one this shape a while back and Sitnwrap wrapped it in silver for my daughter that she will get it at Christmas. This one will be for me. 2" tall x 1" wide.
Picture agate, at least that is what Amber has named it. The purple is agate but the other colors are a softer stone. That explains why the shape is a bit off. 1" tall x 1 3/8" wide.
Opalite? If its not I'd appreciate someone here telling me what it is. 1 3/4" tall x 1 1/8" wide.
Indian paint rock that Amber gave me (I would have stolen it anyway). ;D 1 7/8" tall x 7/8" wide.
Bulgarian opal. Amber bought this at a show, one for each of us. She wasn't happy with the tan non-opal parts but what can you do, they were in the rock. 1 1/2" tall x 3/4" wide.
Blue butter stone. I got this from Snowdog about a year ago. The photo doesn't do it justice. It sort of reminds me of a blue rhodocrosite only a lot softer, maybe a hardness of 4. 1 1/8" tall x 1 3/4" wide.
Biggs. Always one of my favs. 1 1/2"tall x 7/8" wide.
Thanks for looking.
