Hey Randy, Was the Covington saw you got the 16" that is a table model but can be mounted on a stand? If so, did the saw come with a bottom drain of some sort for easy cleaning? I'm probably gonna get a Covington 14" but I'm wanting to avoid that Lortone Panther problem of having to bail out the tank every time I want to change the oil. .....Mel

Mel: With your knowledge of rock, you know there is no easy way to clean out a saw. The sludge is going to plug up the drain hole anyway unless it is about three inches. Everybody wants to avoid bailing out the sludge. My HP has three inch pipe drain, and I still bail out most of the sludge. The good thing, is the cleaner oil goes through a paper bag quicker than the real heavy crap left in the bottom. Woody

Mel- yep, mine was the table model. It does come with a drain plug, but it's not a very good one. I cut a hole in the bottom middle of the tank and welded a tapped bung in place. It's still a pain in the ass to clean though. lol

Thanks for the info Randy and Woody. I usually clean my oil more often than most so usually it runs through the drain pretty well. Hopefully, if I elect to get that saw the supplied drain will be OK. Otherwise, maybe I'll get me a little sump pump to clean it out without all the bailing. Used to have one and it worked pretty well till it broke...Mel
