Uh-oh... I think I just made it to the top of Santa's naughty list, in bold print and underlined, for making the last contest too hard! Would you believe no one got any of the anwers correct? I have come to the realization that seeing a pendant or freeform stone in one dimension on a monitor is much more difficult than seeing it in person. You really lose some perspective when you can't see depth, texture, etc. It can be really tough to make identifications. But, just so everyone doesn't think they are totally off the hook with their wrong guesses, a couple of veteran winners (Mel and Adrian) did get some answers right when they PM'ed me with their guesses just for fun.
So, I had use my fall back method of deciding who the winner would be, and I had pre-determined that the third guesser would be the winner if no answers were correct. I looked at the exact time of all the entered guesses so that email recipients would be included, and guess who the winner was? That's right, Sitnwrap just happened to be in the right place at the right time, as the third entry. Ok, Lori...mailing address = goodie in the mail. PM me.
And what were the answers that eluded so many? From top left to bottom right: Rainforest jasper (I warned you some might be atypical), Tampa bay coral, (very atypical), palm wood from S.C., Mexican "jelly" opal, a section from an ammonite (outer part... now just how sneaky was that??), and the "star of Bethlehem" pendant was Agua Nueva. See how easy this was when you know the answers?
Today's prize, since you all made me feel so guilty for that super hard contest yesterday, is a nice fossil sand dollar that I pulled off my website just for this contest (species: Encope tamiensis) that is commonly called an arrowhead sand dollar because of the notches near the top. Measurements are 1-1/4 inches tall and wide. The face of the sand dollar has been polished to a light sheen (like polished leather). It is electroformed with an 18kt gold trim and has a gold-filled ring attached. Here's the photo:
How do you win? Get involved with labor relations! I heard that the elves at the North Pole almost went on strike this year, but management met their demands at the last minute. What were the five demands that had to be met to avert this horrible Christmas disaster?
C'mon now, this one is wide open for some great imagination! Let's see who *really* wants the sand dollar pendant...
