I have a new idea, at least it is new to me... For the rough tumble cycle on vibrating tumblers, I was thinking about getting an 80 or 100 grit flat lap and making a bowl with the lap as the bottom of the bowl. I don't think you would even need grit in such a gizmo! But you could use grit as normal with it if needed. Do you think such a contraption would make rough cycles go a lot faster?

Thom, I'm not familiar with a flat lapp yet, but the concept seems to hold water to me. I'm now running my first load in my new vibe and I grinded (with my 2450 RPM bench grinder) and sanded (with my Dremel) my preshapes to cut out about 4 days on the front end of this run in order to have them ready for Christmas. IMO, The smoother they go in = less time in vibe, if you are willing or able to take the time to do it. (Labor intensive) I'm sure you'll get better and more experienced advice here. Jo
P.S. Everything looking great and I'm going to do a burnish today. Will post if it turns out!
