I've often wondered... why is it that we are all fascinated by rocks? Do we share some primordial urge to see what is inside, sensing or maybe just hoping that something beautiful lies just below the surface? Do we somehow know that if we look beyond the flaws and fractures there will be a prize worthy of discovery? I think this pretty much describes us, and particularly the members of the RTH.
As this contest progressed, many of our members have given us a peek inside and have shown us that we are a thoughtful, funny, generous and nature loving group. I have certainly enjoyed getting to know some of you better, and I hope everyone enjoyed reading the posts every day as much as I have. I wish I could meet all of you in person some day.
As for the winner of today’s contest…. well, what can I say? I keep getting myself in these tough spots because there are so many good answers, and I agonize over choosing every winner. From EJS’s nice list/naughty list approach to Morticiamonroe’s smoking turds, from bat rescue programs to Special Olympics.. what a range of answers! But , when the smoked cleared I finally decided that bejewelme would take the pendant home. To try to say how I narrowed the decision to one person would be impossible, it was just that hard to do… I only wish I had a tray of these pendants so I could send one out to everyone. Amber, your address is all I need, now.
I really want to thank everyone for joining in on the fun! I feel like I know many of you better than I did before and have made some great new friends. I hope the New Year will bring everyone lots of new shiny rocks, great plumes and mosses, and fortifications against any hard times ahead.
Now, take out the empty Christmas boxes and wrappings, put away all the new gifts, go out to the rock shed and start tumbling, grinding and polishing. We want more photos!
