I just ran the blue quartz through a burnishing tonight after removing from the polish. Over all, I think I am pretty darn happy with them. I even tumbled some that I felt would break apart because they were so thin but they held together. 3 weeks in 60-90 1 week each in 120-220, 550 and 1000, then 10 days in AO. Here is the whole group: Some of the thin ones I didn't think would hold together: A few close ups: I really like some of the patterns in these stones. Thanks for looking! Fran

They came out very nice. I would have expected more chips, don't see any. Great shine.

Great job, Frane! That is some very pretty material with great blue color. The rocks look nice and smooth with a great shine (just the way I like them!). By any chance, do you have photos of the starting material? Did you collect it yourself?
I particularly like two in the last photo: the one with the stripe in the bottom left, and the one with a cool camoflage-looking pattern on the bottom right. Great job!

It seems that most of them avoided getting any chips. After the first week, I added more rock and in the 2nd week, I added the thin ones that I thought would break. After the 120-220 grit, I added plastic pellets to the load for cushioning and increased the amount added with each grit change. Seemed to do the trick. I am going to have to check back in my pics to see if I have one of the rough. I think I got this batch from the rock shed but I was told by a co-worker that she has a lot of this stuff in her yard by a stream. She has invited me over when it gets warmer to collect some...I am looking forward to that! Fran

DeanW, you are just too funny! Laughed out loud when I read that and had my husband asking what was so funny. I made him read it and he did the voice so that set me off again. Thank you all! Fran

Those are really pretty and I love blue quartz. You got a variety of shades of blue there. Great batch Frane and you put a real nice shine on them.

Hiya Buddy,
Blue Quartz has such a soft range of colours and patterns, those are really beautiful tumbles Buddy, you got a fabulous shape and shine on them. I love the really spotty ones, with such a high shine I'm seeing spots all the time! Those stones are utterly wonderful, and you should be positively glowing with pride, pretty darn happy just won't cover it Fran, those are beautiful tumbles! WTG! Thanks for sharing them with us, should be great fun to see what your tumbling next!
Cheers,
Sparkles.

Well, this rough was bought through Bergs rock shop (not the rock shed as I had said before) and a friend has said it is at here place here in VA. It is a really nice material to work with! Fran
