That is so sad! I hate hearing about nice folks being taken advantage of! Seeing more and more of that sort of behavior these days. Not so many honorable folks left in the world now days I guess....Mel

Don't worry, when carma comes around, it hits hard. The thing I like most about the hobby, and why I am so pasionate about it, is the people. I hope this has been an isolated event. Sorry for your loss.

Although it is not the point, I hope the loss was not too great. but when things like this happen you don't just loose money, you lose a lot of the trust that you had in people. I hope that something comes along for you that replaces what was taken; again, not the point but it helps with the balance of things.

Aww man pag I sure hate to see that crap happen to good people.....Sure wish I could give him the benifit of the doubt.. but his name alone gives me the creeps.. .. Sure wish we could stone him.. lol.. but since that probably wont happen .. I'm hoping Karma will kick him in the ..(CENSORED).. cuz KOPS SUCK!

I too, am so sorry this happened to you. Sometimes I wonder what is
going on in this world. When did a man's word become useless?
An agreement is just that, weither on a hand shake or a man's word, it shouldn't be broken.
You both have always been so wonderful, sharing your trips through photos and your agates are unbelievable. I sincerly hope this bad apple doesn't spoil it for the rest of us oranges.

Heck there are alot of scammers just in RTH alone.
Key words here,
If you want others to side with you or avoid this guy you need to tell us alot more than he didn't seem to pay you for rocks you GAVE him.
Did you have an agreement for him to pay you after he sold them? How long of a time did you agree after he sold them that he would pay you?
Maybe you don't remember tmorris, he was sick then he died and then came back to life. There are alot of these scumbags that take what you send/give them with the agreement they will pay for them, then they never do. Most will tell you after you corner them that they were sick, on deaths bed and even in the hospital and thats why they couldn't pay or email you.
I posted a thread on "safeguard your trade and it got stickied, so I don't feel sorry for anyone that gets screwed anymore. Alot of us got screwed, ask Snowdog. He got screwed by alot and even some of the screwers were good standing members here, once they screwed they left. If you have been in this business more than a few years, you should have known better. Should have gotten a phone number, drivers license number and an address.
I can't believe you have been in the "market" for years and haven't run into at least a couple chit heads...
Live and learn I guess.

FIRST , WE GAVE HIM 60 DAYS TO PAY , AND THEN HE NEEDED SOME MORE , SO WE GAVE HIM 120 DAYS. WHEN THE DEADLINE FOR PAYMENT WAS OVER , WE ASKED HIM TO DEPOSIT IN OUR ACCOUNT , BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. |

I'm VERY surprised that your normal mode of doing business is to send the material then accept payment after the recipient gets them. That's not the norm. You're setting yourself up for being burned. You're lucky you're only out about 5 kilos of agates, as it could have been much worse. Always get your payment in advance fron now on, as that's the accepted norm. No honest buyer should have a problem with that.

patagonianstar: I am sorry this has happened to you. I have seen your agates both here and at Mike's Mcrocks board, they are beautiful. I know it is your business and therefore your decision, but now that you have said publicly you will send rocks, then get your payment....I sincerely hope you will consider asking for payment first. I for one would fully expect to send money first. How much does the freight amount to from Argentina to Nashville TN, just "for example".

It was close to 200US$ for a small box (about FRB sized) delivered to Berkeley, I'd expect a similar cost to Nashville....

So, don't get mad, get even. Smear his name on every Board and forum you can. If he frequents shows, talk to the sponsors about his behavior. Notify those he has done business with on eBay and have left negative or neutral comments. He will pay for his lack of integrity over and over again. If he pulled this sort of crap in the diamond bourse, the Hasidics (the most honorable merchants in the world, and some of the most astute) would ostracize him to the point he would not do business in their city again, or anywhere else he had influence. And that's how it should be, for when such people cheat you they create distrust that becomes generalized and the compassion that makes the world tolerable withers a little more. To paraphrase Kennedy, Karma's work must truly be our own......

I too was at this particular rock show, and the day before I went, there was a theft of a specimen valued at about $500. The thief returned the same day I was there, and all anyone did was whisper loudly 'there he is again!!'. I had actually spotted the guy earlier as someone who was acting suspiciously. But why not call Security? Why not call the police? It was weird.
But if this Jeff guy has even one inch of 'fibromyalgia', he cannot 'guide' anyone, anywhere considering where he lives. So his whole blurb is nothing but lies. Let's send Jimmy and Dave up north to have a chat with him. That would scare him straight!!
