I've got a question for those of you experienced with Woodward Ranch Agate. Is it just the rough I picked, or does the plume agate frequently have rough areas that seem to be a mix of quartz and iron (?) that just stays rough?
It's not what I would generally consider matrix because of the high percentage of quartz, but maybe that's what it is.
Thanks for your insights! Chuck

Their mosses tend to have pitty sections - with the softer moss making cabs frequently difficult.
The plume biscuits are generally much better, though.
Some of the stuff from there runs in thin seams, though, with the nice agate running into the yucky basalt and back out. You might have some of that...

Now that I think about it, it does tend to be in the moss agate. I have a little bit of everything from there: moss, plume, orbicular, "flower garden", seam quartz, banded agate, botryoidal quartz, druzy quartz, ...
Thanks for confirming. I might be better off just cutting off the pitted sections instead of trying to tumble them. That's going to take some time as I think most of the moss agate is like this.
