Now, that I've figured out how to load photos, here are some from my first batch in 15 years. All local stuff, agates, etc. Sorry my photo abilities aren't mastered yet. First is a group shot of some of the better ones. Mozarkite (bad photo. lots of deep purple and red. It's the dark stone at the upper left of the group shot) Moss Agate Zebra rock (got a name for it?) Eye agate of some sort?

Look like they turned out great! Nice photos too, but maybe a little small. Makes it hard to get a really good look.

Well, it is great to see that first batch. Welcome back to tumbling! The top pic with the gold stone that has a stripe in the middle looks neat! The Wonderstone(?) has lots of great patterns in it also. Thanks for sharing! Fran

wonderstone? never heard of it. do tell more!!!
the gold stone with the stripe is (as far as i know) a river rock with a quartz vein that ran thru it. i found it on the shore of the meremac river by my house. actually, everything here was found within 2 or 3 miles from my house.
currently, i have agates tumbling. i am in my 3rd coarse grind, of 3 different agates, mostly banded. the first load was river agates, mostly carnelian, some with blue or green and a little moss. second load is what i'm calling purple passion agate. i found a spot with druzy amethist and chalcedony, with lots of bands and colors from pink to deep purple. this load is more purple passion, some river and some other types, just to see how they look. the last grind will be done early next week. i'll then combine the best stones and go on from there. some will have cavities left in them, more for dramatic effect. hopefully i'll remember to take some photos after i choose the 'winners' and before i start the fine grind.

i googled wonderstone. from what i saw, wonderstone is red and brown. the stones i have are blue white and black. to me, wonderstone looks more like sardonyx, or a wavy banded type of it rather.

Please do post photos of your purple passion agate. It sounds lovely!
For your photos: does your camera have a macro setting? You can avoid the blurriness associated with close ups if you use that setting.

i'll get better at my photos. keep in mind, i've only been loading photos into a computer since tuesday!!!! purple passion rough. from southwest jefferson county, missouri. yes, i took them in bad lighting (and i suck). chalcedony of various purples and pinks. the dark purple is micro amethist crystals. bands and larger amethist crystals.

I was just on the rock shed site and he has zebra marble on the rough rock section that looks like your zebra rock. May be the same. Fran

Hey Navi!
Great to see another eager tumbler re-joining the ranks! ;D Looks like you had a great time tumbling some local rocks, and isn't it so much more fun when you picked 'em yourself! ;D You got a great shine on your batch, they look really nice, I liked the stripy ones the best, but they are all nice tumbles. Congratulations and thanks for posting. Super job on your returning batch, it's going to fun to see what you tumble in to next! ;D
Cheers,
Sparkles.
