I was going through the rocks in the and came across this ordinary looking moss agate... ordinary until I gave it a lick! Does anyone know what this is??? I really gotta know. It's like nothing I've ever seen... well almost. Here it is: Some closeups. Notice the cool moss patterns! Here's the other side of a slice I cut off. This made me want to hug it! OK so this came from a box of WWR and etc rocks from Sheri a while back. (Thank you Sheri ;D ) The closest thing I can think that it looks like is Hungarian agate, but I can't imagine how something like that would end up in a FRB unannounced. Also, all the Hungarian agate I've seen is in nodules and this is more like a chunk. It's basically moss agate that's red, green, and blue. Any ideas on what this is? Thanks, Steve

I was going to say it looked like WWR or Arizona moss.

Wow Steve, very nice chunk of moss! Problem with moss is it occurs in so many areas. My first guess would be Maury Mtn from Oregon but I've seen similar from Arizona, Texas, Utah and Calif. First two pics though, make me lean towards the Maury....Mel

I will agree that it definitely looks like Maury moss as well. I have a few pieces that look dang close to that.

I think Maury Mtn as well. The last piece looks like a piece I cut and posted pics of. Someone e-mailed me and said that it was Bonneville Ocean Sea Algae/Agate. But if it all came from the same rock...it wouldn't be that. Steve

Hmm. Lots of green moss down by Needle Peak but I don't recall finding hardly any of the dense green sea weedy type at Woodward. Mostly reds yellows and oranges there.....Mel

I found a similar piece at either WWR or Stillwell Ranch. It was the only green one I found. Very striking.

It is WWR. We all went to the east side of the ranch during the first WWR Blitz and found all kinds of new stuff! Even found something extremely close to Laguna!!

I have found agate in every color of the rainbow at WWR...banded agate, fortification agate, tube agate, orbicular agate, as well as picture jasper type-stuff, in addition to the usual plumes and mosses. Will try to get some photos this weekend of my WWR cab collection.
WWR is amazing! :PS
