Very nice crystals I have been there twice. I got one of the worst sun burns of my life there it was 103 that day. While Bending over my dig area my shirt road up my back wow was it toast. Did not know they had closed it why or did they say. Great pics thanks for the post. George

Hey those and the barite roses are really neat! I like the nice red tones as most I've seen are just old gray colored specimens. Course, Oklahoma dirt is pretty darn red as I recall too..Mel

Wow!! ain't never heard or seen those kinds before.. man am I lucky they added this thread.. I feel like i'm almost a palaat- Pallonol tol.. palieontolonngist? oh ok.. maybe not.. but pretty soon i'll know just as many rocks as you MEL.. LOL..

A couple of years ago, a Boy Scout dug up some canisters of mustard gas the army dumped there after WW2. So our government in all their glory and never ending desire to "protect" us, closed the site until they can find out if there are any more. It may be years or they may never open again.

Those crystals are really cool. Makes me wish I could look at them through the loupe. Is this the site that hosted a huge annual collection every year? If it is, and I remember correctly, some of the crystals that were hounded were so fragile that unless kept in an exact environment only lasted and hour or so. The crystals I think were salt or salt based (if that makes sense)
