I've had these completed since about Christmas...just getting around to taking a picture of the completed Butterflies. These were the 1st ones I've done....and there's lots of room for improvement. These were cut with my trim saw, ground a bit, and then tumbled. The Maury Moss (bottom left) is the only one that didn't survive the tumbling. The rest faired pretty well. I will get more of these done throughout the Summer. Lori had sent me a great idea of what to do with them...and I'll probably take her up on it. Steve

Great idea, Steve! My favorite is the polka dot.
I think you don't have to glue the wings directly on the body. You could use a glued bail on the back like TonyTerner does, only that bail to have two "branches" on which the wings could be glued.

Hey Steve, those came out beautifully. I was wondering if you had finished them. That yellow one is gorgeous, so big yet so dainty. Feel free to give me a shout. I love holding Butterflies

WOW Steve, very impressive, I like the big yellow one on the left too. And that top red one, well they are all pretty and really cool. I like the ones that have the center body. Using the different color is neat too. You are very talented!! Amber

Beautiful flutterbies, Steve!! I really like the reddish-brown at the top right.
As for the injured one on the lower left...Pucini might have had one such in mind when he wrote about Madama Butterfly - "Poor Butterfly"! In its own unique way it is truly beautiful. Can't you just envision the butterfly with torn wing that escaped the bird's beak and fluttered off to another flower?
Really looking forward to seeing your final outcome on these beauties!

Great idea and great execution. I got try those, they'd make good sun catchers if made out of brazilians or some other clearish agate.

They turned out great. I see what you mean by the wings not surviving the tumble, but Michelangelo never gave up, and I think your following in his foot steps. (Big thumbs up)
I like the plain wings in the middle as well. Very creative.
