I doubt I'm the first, but since I've been on this board I haven't heard of anyone toasting a WF - and I don't mean a congratulatory toast either.
My WF is just a year old - maybe not quite. Its seen a lot of service as its the only saw I own. I use it for mini-slabbing, pre-forming pendants, beveling all the edges of those pendants, and as a grinder. Just before Christmas it started getting noisy like a motor bearing was failing. Cleaned it all up and couldn't find anything obviously wrong. No play in the motor shaft or blade so I kept on cutting.
Yesterday I mapped out another 100 or so pendants, filled my water tub and tray, and the WF wouldn't cooperate. The bearings are bound up big time. I can't even budge it with a wrench.
Home Depot on the way home from work tonight. I'll keep the next one cleaner and dry it out better when I'm finished with it.

I think the older models may be better saws. I've sent mine to hell and back and it just keeps on keeping on. Since I've said this, it'll probably blow up today. Curt

You know me so well Amber! Its too cold to bury it, but I'll say a few words over the garbage bag - after removing the Hot Dog blade of course!

Well....I got me another WF saw, but I had to do some talking. The only one on the shelf had been used. I looked it over and found help. Got the we're not going to sell these anymore story. I went into my act. If you aren't selling them anymore then why is this one here with a price on it? Why is a saw on the shelf thats obviously been used and still listed at full price of $89? How 'bout a deal? He goes and asks someone and says I can have it for $59. My rap continues. Theres no box with it. It isn't even cleaned up from the use. (I guess I should tell you he claimed they'd used it the store - I was OK with that). Wheres the water pan? The blade is used - are you sure its OK? Those blades don't come cheap you know! Off he goes to talk to his manager again.
I brought it home for $40 plus tax. Cool beans. Good thing too because all my preforms are already tumbling.

Nice dealing on the WF. I hope you enjoy it even half as much as I do mine.

My local HDs still carry the WF. I wonder what gives? Just slow to clean out inventory?

Could be. I have friends 90 miles south of me and they are checking their HD for me this weekend.

If its just a bearing in the motor that failed you can probably replace both motor bearings for under $10. Then you could have 2 WF. I don't have a WF to say for sure but if you put up some pics of the motor I'm sure the people on this board could step you through it. Usually its not a big job.

I just bought the last one in stock at my nearest HD, but they're selling them on-line. AND they have Hot Dog blades cheaper than I remember them.
If I get a chance, I'll check another HD on my way home from work Friday.
