To be honest Ken I still don't get the sign up as security lots of places have precious metals and show prices. I can see signing up to buy, but just to see prices? Its still the only online store that I have seen set up that way. On here and rockhounds you can still see stuff without signing in, you just can't comment. I'll probably sign up someday with Rio Grande as people do generally say good things about them, but it still seems like a pain in the butt.

My best guess is they have a scale on pricing. It's the only reason I can think of to hide the prices until you sign up, at which time you have to specify how you fit into the jewelry trade. (Or at least you used to have to say how you fit into the jewelry trade).

I signed up with them probably last spring, early summer with no problem, online. I placed an order and got it real quick. A few days later someone from there called me but I wasn't here to answer the phone so he left a message saying he hoped I got the order and was happy with it. Welcomed me as a new customer and invited me to call anytime if I had a questions. I thought that nice even though I knew it was just good PR. I have order many more times since with no problem, fast shipping. Hubby got me a few things for Christmas from them and had to sign up for his own account first, had no problem. Price wise? I think they are in the ball park and I know they are cheaper on stuff that I was looking for, higher on others, it's all relative.

Curt, I have spend at least a thousand dollars with FM quick easy service but since the gold and silver prices even with the discount Rio's prices are much better. Didn't have any problem with sign up or order, sent in scrape and some old jewelry and they used telephone number to call and talk to us about some of the jewelry we sent. We found good quick service. Donna

I can't remember if I had to wait for the sign up but I have been happy. I go on line to figure out what I want and then I call to place the order. I love their customer service via phone. We usually end up laughing.
I have had two probs with the 1/2 round being coiled backwards but they sent me replacement lickity spilt and shipped a label so I could return the other. Does anyone order their wire from them coiled? and if so, do they tie it down or use the ends of the wire to wrap the coil? I have only ordered it spooled and there is a bit of wire waste at the ends when they "hook" it.
I have also send them scrap.

When I order wire from them I order it coiled. I regularly order from three places (monsterslayer, thunderbirdsupply, and rio) and at least two of those places use twist ties to secure the wire. Looking over my packaging, at least two of the places use twist ties to secure the wire, and I actually think all three do.
I'm sure others have realized this original thread started this time last year.

Lori, I order it on a spool. I know what you mean about the "hook-loss" I just incorporate it into my design. (e.g. use it for the first bind in binding wire) I still have a credit from the wire I sent back b4 Xmas. I'll be ordering soon I suspect. Jo

Now you tell us this is a year old......
Anyhow I just signed up. It took exactly 2min 14sec so not too painful and I can imediately see prices. So not too bad I guess. Good prices too, they shouldn't hide the price they should be showing off.
