Some First Tumbles---I have learned a lot since then.
None of the following have been thru a burnish---next step for some.
They were photographed using a homemade light diffuser. I can tell you right now I am going to have to get a close up lens for my Canon.
This first one I found in our field after plowing it for a winter garden. It is the shape of a clam shell even with the hinge on the back and a line running where the two halves would meet. The color is actually below the surface and does not sit on it like some others. I have been looking for another and I think I finally found one that is tumbling now. A little bigger than this one.
This one was found in the same field and the color on this one is like the first one---it is below the surface.
Good old Red Jasper----I have about 4 lbs now and some with white streaks and some with grey streaks.
This one is actually small and I have been looking for a larger piece and I found one this past week but the green is more prevalent. I really like the black and green. This one is going back into the 2nd grit to finish off some of the pits.
This one the overall green does not show as well in the photo as it does in natural light.
Not sure about this one. I like the shape and I can tell you it is very hard. Took a licking and stayed the same.
The photo does not do this one justice. A lot of speckles and medium size crystals. I have three of these now.
One of my favorites---very smooth and I am fascinated by the color mix.
My purple egg.
This was a solid Grey with the white lines. The brown did not start appearing until after the first week. Contemplating putting it back in the coarse! I probably will since I have since found another one like it. Strange you can look at the end and see all the grey lines coming together like a bundle of wires.
I resized the photos and reloaded this thread. Time to check out if they are the right size.
