And of all places, these were at the petstore. My wife spotted them first, and when I saw them, damn!! These three weigh in at ten pounds total, the first one (first two pics) is slightly larger than a baseball..... This one has a hollow druzy pocket and is almost twice the size of the first one..... This is almost like two purple thundereggs joined together...

Jeepin Jumpin Lizzards those are awesome. You did grab all they had didn't you? Did you check the fish tanks to make sure? Maybe I should take another trip to the pet store down the street but I highly doubt anything like that will be there.

Randy I have tons of these...these are Dugway eggs...If you come down to the Delta Utah trip in April you can load up your truck full of these.

Really? I have some dugways, but they're tiny. The one in the first two pics is actually convex, in the pic it almost looks concave (hollow). There was another that was solid and weighed about 6 or 7 pounds. It wasn't round, it was more like a big chunk. I'm probably gonna go back for it in the morning.

There are ways to cut the big ones. I am working on a plan for a geode saw.

I seen two really cool geode saws at the Gem and Jewelry show here in VA Beach this past summer. I believe these were made by the guy that had them, they were cool! They had boxes of geodes, you but one and they'd cut it open right there.

Well I am one very happy Lady this morning!!! ;D ;D I just happened upon this thread and much to my delight, I not only got to see some pretties, I found out the name of some of my wonderful Thunder Eggs!!!! I have some gorgeous Dugways (I just didn't know their names!!!). They fascinate me with their little crystal caverns and grottos hiding inside. I think that must be a place where the little mountain gnomes hide and play! And I will definitely keep track of any threads that mention "Cutting Geodes" as I have a number of assorted geodes and eggs that are too big for my Work Force. I've heard that geodes can be cut by tying a kerosine-soaked string around them and then setting the string on fire, but I am afraid to try it!!!! Thanks so much for brightening my day and expanding my knowledge base!!! This was just what I needed!!!! Lady B

Well ....lol (I just wanted to blow a kiss back at ya) ;D I've never heard of the kerosene-on-fire trick. Hey, maybe I can drill a hole in one, and fill it with black powder, and li...... naaa, I'll let one of the girls try that. ;D lol

Dugways at the petstore!!?? WHAT PETSTORE!? Randy, do you go to a chain store or a ma and pa type store? I can't believe you found those at a pet store--I've not yet found anything good at the petstore. Those are so pretty, I'm going to try a few stores---let me know where you shop! Nona

Nona, these came from the "Animal Jungle". You would think that it's a chain, because it's the size of a department store. They have hundereds of exotic snakes, birds, fish, and all sorts of mammals including a Lynx. The rock selection is pretty good, but I get much better stuff from the board members here.
