i have two slabs that most ppl think they are both rhodonite. I'm not sure because the color is so different. Are they both the same kind of rock? ty ralph and mary ann

Rhodonite comes in orangish, whiteish and pink. The one on the left definitely looks like rhodonite. The one of the right looks a bit different than what I'm used to but, from a picture, I'd have to say I don't know on that one....mel

The one on the right looks like the Rhodonite that's native to Massachusetts. Ours isn't that bright pink you often see elsewhere, it's really much more of a salmon color. The black banding seems consistent with the Rhodonite I've got from here, as well.

If the one on the left is from the material you slabbed for me Ralph its actually pyroxmangite. Rhodonite from Colorado. Its a little softer than the rhodonite from Australia and it takes a nice shine. You can still dig it at Sunnyside Mine, but my material didn't come from there. BTW - I have about 20 lbs of it.

Rhodonite is another one of those broad terms. Occurences vary greatly throughout the world. I recently sold the most beautiful piece I've ever seen ... Russian Rhodonite with PURPLE in it.
