While I wait for my goodies, I finally got the camera working well for small and close up. I have also realized that using a white or cream background is the best for me so far.
After talking with my neighbor the other night, she pulled out this big buckets of rocks and stones and started handing them to me to tumble as I see fit. I will be rummaging through that bucket after I get my next batch started. ;D
All of the listed below are from ny neighbors bucket.
Does anyone know what this is?
1. It is about 1/2"-1" in size, pale, pale peach and looks like when it was forming, it just folded over onto itself. It also has this funky hole at one end. It has a surface, but very smooth surface and my neighbor said i could try to polish it.
Does anyone know what this is?
2. This is one half of one (solid and darn impossible to open) the solid geodes I cracked open. The middle section is black and solid. The center looks like wood almost. I am probably wrong on that.
Does anyone know what these are?
3. These are crazy looking little things. Each one is about the size of a golf ball, sort of round (like a geode), and appears to have the same properties as thes geodes. I tried last night to take a small flat head screwdriver and hammer to see if I could at least nick the surface and nope. They are very hard.
The surface of the cream colored one is not smooth and on some of the surface, it appears to be consistent what would be inside. As if I would know.
The darker one is even more strange.
This one is really hard as well and I could not even nick it. The surface of this one is really odd. Almost as if at one time, there were little and I mean really small (maybe in water) crevices (almost worm shaped) all over the outside.
4. Last one .... I am probably boring you guys .... but I need to learn how to eventually id these for myself.
This is a very small, about the size of a grape. It is a dark, almost pumpkin color and it is completely surrounded on and the under the surface by all I can think of to describe it ..... fracturing. To me, this almost looks like a wood. It is very light and has several nicks or little pieces taken out of it. I did not try to use the screwdriver and hammer on this as I am pretty sure it would not take it very well.
Once again, everyone, thank you!
