Good evening all!!!

I finally have a tumble going and the sound is so soothing.

Now that that is going, I have already set aside some stones that I can add to stage 2 (smoothing) and another small batch that I will add to the pre and polish stages.

Was only able to find chisels at Lowe's. Long story short, I am trying to figure out a makeshift way of splitting, cracking, or creating rocks small enough for the tumblers.

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will be able to get one/two 3 pounders. Everything in time. Right now, I am just happy to get this tumble going!!

The goodies from MichaelJohn and Collie will keep be busy for weeks.

Actually it is kind of funny .... I live in a little house that is about 700 sq feet including bathroom and laundry room (tumble room) and right now I have rocks all over the place and another large bag of leather in the trunk of my car hoping it will find its way into the living room.

This is fun!!

I used various hard(er) rocks for this tumble (this time, the rocks are all from MichaelJohns box), 1 tablespoon plastic pellets, one tablespoon 60/90 grit (thank you Collie) and cold water about 3/4 way up.

I have also taken more pictures in the past almost 24 hours and will post them gradually.

I do want to make a special note here ... Collie sent me these (amongst everything else) really beautiful and very bitchin "wonderstones"! These are awesome.

These stones are the ones I have the smooth again and a couple for the pre and polish stages.

Day 5 of the new batch and I am getting antsy to start another batch.

I told myself I would not use the second tumbler for anything but polish.

But .... I will just have to make sure that I clean/scrub the heck out of the second when ready for the polish.

I found out the hard way, ended up buying a 3rd barrel so I wouldn't bang my head against the wall anymore.

I would love to get a third barrel, however .... I think trying to master my little ole new self to the process and being able to get a handle on what to do and not to do before I have to move into my car port and set up shop in my bedroom.

I'm sitting here chuckling as I read your post.

You have 700 sq feet of living space and it's covered with rocks.Well let me tell you that everything is relative.
I have about 1500 sq ft of space all to myself in the basement and it too is covered with rocks/minerals and fossils!

If I had the entire 3300 sq ft it too would be in the same condition.
And by the way,,,,,the back of my pick-up has a bunch of rocks in it too!!

This is only 2 of the rooms I have down here and I am starting an excavation into the 3rd.!!!

Like I said,,,,,everything is relative!

Think about this a minute, if yellowstone blows or the meteor hits and the next ice age hits and a couple of million years from now when the ice recedes. people start excavating and find a couple of basements like connrocks and mine and a few others and find our stash of rocks.
