The precision of cutting and grinding needed in this project must be amazing. Beautiful bowl, watching those backlight pics I think it deserves to be turned upside down and used as a lamp.

Thank you for all your kind comments. Now I have to tell a story on myself. I made the base first and then put together the 6 triangles for the sides before I started any of the other pieces. I wanted each of these side triangles to "bulge" out to a point for that added 3D look, so I finished all of them before putting in the other pieces. When I finished polishing the other pieces adjacent to the triangles, I found out that due to the the thickness of the slabs, I could not get a fit at the tips of the 6-point star. I was going to have to cut each of the tips of the star off or figure something else out. Why didn't I realize this before I started? It's because my prototype was made out of thin cardboard and didn't account for the thickness of the slabs I actually used. I ended up tapering the inside of each of the pieces of India moss and Graveyard Plume agate out to the edge of the star tips making those pieces really "pointy" and therefore fragile (at least until I got them all glued together). I ended up making at least two of the India moss and Graveyard Point pieces for every one I ended up using, but I saved the star tips. That's the kind of "learn as you go" thing that takes so much time on a project like this. Anyway, those points where the 10 pieces all come together are quite strong now, as I have proved after bumping it pretty good several times. Again, thanks for your kind comments.
