Someone please tell me that I will develop patience over time. I just murdered another geode and this one, inside was awesome. I have tried to piece it back together and was not able to complete it. Here it is .... or as it was ... It appears to have a pipe or chimney going from one side to the other. Lots of yellow .... sulfur? ....sodalite? I am so bummed

We have all been murderers at some point or another. lol And Ive murdered plenty of geodes......and Murphy's Law says that you will "murder" the good ones.
Not sure what is inside.....yellow could be quartz, calcite.......not sodalite though, sodalite is blue.

Yeah don't feel bad.. I've done my fair share of murderous hack jobs.. and still do from time to time have the ability to mangle a perfectly good rock .. So.. my advice.. long as don't throw your rocks sit back visit with them.. get to know them and always let them know.. no matter what you do to them.. that they will always look as precious as the day you first picked them up.. lol

Did you get the chisels and a hammer?
Better to murder a rock than a person...so maybe it served its purpose.
The yellow could be limonite, a combination of iron oxides.

Benite!! ... thank you .... they are really cool aren't they!!
Yes .... I got hammer and chisel and it seems everything I try is harder than diamond .............. dammit
Did get a small bench grinder with flex shaft and some diamond bits.
I have no place other than my kitchen on a big butcher block in which to practice and am very hesitate ...
One very important thing I have forgotten to get are my safety glasses and am trying to learn how to keep stones wet enough so I do not get a lot of spark.
Thanks again to all for all your help ....

Theres a diamond blade that you can get that will fit the flex shaft. With those little geodes, score a good edge around them, then use the chisel/hamer, might break nicer for you. Your next investment for those little guys is a tile saw from lowes or home depot. I got mine on sale for under $50.........that poor thing only cut ceramic tile one day...........the rest has been rocks.

I did get a small bench grinder (Chicago I think) that came with a flex shaft and I just recently got a little diamond bit set. I will try a little bit of scoring tonight in the kitchen (I have the bench grinder on a pretty heavy butcher block).
Thanks for the help as always!
