A rocker decided to quit rocking and hand down his very small collection of rock and a ton of books & mags. I now have almost every issue of Lapidary Journal since 1960, about 10 very old rock books and some cool rock! I will NEVER complain about hand-me-downs. Oh, and he gave me quite a bit of Gem Silica, Gem Silica Druzy. I will take pics of them and the mags & Books tomorrow. These are the ones I know........... Bruneau - Chocolate? Poppy Jasper Blue Biggs Peitersite Peitersite Bustimite - something found with Sugilite I was told? Bustimite - something found with Sugilite I was told? Lavender Laguna Lavender Laguna

Very cool stones and the mags will provide a great amount of inspiration. I have many of my dad's old lapidary mags and enjoy them tremendously.

Your "poppy" is probably Guadalupe Poppy not the traditional Morgan Hill. The tip-off is the white centers of the eyes. Far as I've been able to figure out the site was mined out years and years ago. I can't even find a specific location description, even verbal. Most rumors say at or near the Guadalupe dump area in the hills between San Jose and Morgan Hill. That is a very nice, rare piece.

Just an added note, the "old timer" is a friend of mine, Sheri met him through Craigslist answering an ad for the sale of a Lapidary Journal and other books and magazine sale, Sheri was was treated kindly by my friend, who gave her many items, as she was buying his magazine collection and he is a generous man, Sheri did not have all the money on her and promised to mail him a check next week, it is now a year and a half later and he has still not received the check, it is a shame that some folks resort to lying and cheating in order to gain from someones generosity, I only hope that Sheri will eventually do the right thing!

I don't know what the heck you are talking about. I know nothing of any moneys due you! I have a cancelled check to prove it! Why are you doing this? Hand me downs and the word 'gave' are the truth! Please leave me alone. The people on this board have known me for a very long time!

Really nice hand me downs indeed! That is either Guadalupe Poppy or Big Sandy Creek poppy from over at Indian Valley. Some of the old Guadalupe site is supposed to now be in New Almanden Quicksilver County Park. The actual poppy type was named for Guadalupe Reservoir and it's surrounds where several outcrops used to occur. Big Sandy has the same stuff only usually very fractured and there are other locations in the coast range from Santa Barbara County to the SF Bay area.....Mel

well all i can say is post the cashed check Rockhobbit
and petrox post the deal in writing stating the agreement that more money was due signed by both party's
since it was just those two doing the deal nobody else knows what was said or agreed on and pretty hard either way to prove without it -- don't you agree -- all i can go on is knowing Rockhobbit from being a long time member on RTH and as far as i know i never seen a black mark posted against her

Sorry, petrox. But you'll have to do better than that. As John said, we've known Rockhobbit a long time - and love her. So to come on here as a newbie and accuse her of inpropriety is a big stretch for us. What is your angle here?
