I was in Victoria, BC last weekend because it looks almost certain that I will move there this summer. Caught up to LCARS (Rob) and we did a bit pf jasper hunting on one of his favored beaches. Rob took these excellent pictures. (That's Victoria City in the background.) (click for larger)

Daniel, You just moved to Oregon! Is it because of work? Shannon Yes. I am following grant funding that is being transferred. Its a gauranteed 3 years and in this economy I did not want to go job searching. The beach is nice, but mostly red jasper - except for some neat Dallasite.

Good for you, Daniel. Guess that means no more buying trips. I still haven't had a chance to really cut into the stuff you picked up for me last year. Hope to do some this weekend.

Thanks for posting the pics Daniel! I was just about to start a new thread and post them myself but it's been a crazy week and i've been caught up in every other imaginable distraction. Deb193redux was the first RTH member i've met in person! If I ever manage to keep working steady enough to save up, I'd like to at least go down to Utah & Colorado for a late summer vacation and do some rock hounding, maybe even attend an RTH road trip event, if the timing works out. If anyone else on RTH ends up over here (on Vancouver Island) just let me know. I'd be happy to meet up for a bit to rockhound on the beach or pick away at the Muir Creek fossil bed or just kick back and talk rocks. Rob

Hope to do some this weekend. matt I can still shop for folks at RocksJ2b2 in Albany, or Rock Castle in Lebannon - but I am unclear if I will get to Richardson's in Madras or Judy Elkins in Prinville anytime soon. My own rock buying has come to a screeching halt. When I moed from PA I sold off 700lbs and moved 1200. I have acquired about 1000lbs here in Oregon, so I wil once again try to sell off or donate the bottom 1/3, and then move the rest. Think lots of Home Depot orange buckets!

It looks nice where you are - but where's all that white-brown stuff?
