Well Guys this was tough!!!

Thank you to all who opened their hearts and showed that many of us RTH'ers have a romantic side!!

Again special thanks to HighPlainsDrifter for sending a very beautiful cab, let me tell you, I had to wrap that sucker back up or it would have found its way into my jewelry box!

The morrisonite I was doing turned into the kidney bean, and somehow sending one of my cabs with his just didn't seem right!!! I did include some slabs along with some other surprises!!!

So lets see what we heard:

Cul Ann- I had to laugh at the Goodwill frame with the missing stones!!

Lori-Getting stranded on Nantucket, that was fun!

Tweetiepy- That hand soap story cracked me up!

Mel- I can just imagine how your wife melted when you said your zippers were compatible! You are too funny!!!!Mel I just love you because you are so darn smart, but just seem so darn fun too!!!

Texaswoodie- His whole response made me cry, how touching, I hope his wife gets to read what he wrote!!! What a beautiful way to honor your wife of so many years!!

Stonesthatrock- Maryann you know I just adore you, and to think of you putting the first date moves on Ralph is so funny!!! I like a little naughtiness!!! Is he still tied to the bed?? is that why he never writes, LOL!!!

BuiltonRock- Ahhh, the rose petals run amuck and thrown in the closet, the love letter, John just so gets us women!!! They must have managed their romantic date at some point, since little Kendal came along!!! They need some private time at this point with a newborn and a young little man in the house!!! John I hope you get that chance soon!! Just don't make a third one right away!!!

Tony W- You and your fetishes, a shrink could have a field day!!!! I will find a pigtailed maiden with pickle breath for ya!!!

Naturenut-You and Bill getting locked out of your room in your bathrobes is too funny, especially since I know you guys!!!! Now had you continued the racy part, you might have won!!!

Roxy- A surprisingly touching story about your son!!! I was expecting some steamy stuff from you!!! That was a tear jerker too, made me cry!!!

Adrian- How sweet that you guys have been together since 1st grade!!!!! Man, that is awesome!!! She knew you would be the finest groover/cabber/artist in all of Romania!!! Were you bringing her rocks in 1st grade?

Morticia- Ahh this was the last entry and the hardest one for me to choose between!!! I am giving you 2nd place and I am going to make you a cab!!!!!!

The thought that he got his wife roses every Friday for years is very touching to me!!! I like flowers because you know the dude gotta go get them, so he is thinking about you!! And then he is handing over hard earned cash, so you know you are in for a good time at that point, becuase lets face it, we all know roses are expensive!!! So I bet Woody was rocking on Friday nights!!! But the real cincher was his ideal date for V-day!! I just liked the way he wrote it, so sweet!! Letting her find the prettiest rock! I think he seems very unselfish which is a trait that I like in people, so his entry just stuck in my head!!

With Valentine's Day approaching, I really wanted to do a writing contest, since I love a good romance!!!

The winner will receive a box containing, rocks, slabs, cabs, valentine's candy, and perhaps a few racy items to make your Valentine's Day Sizzle!!!

High Plains Drifter is doing a V-Day project with some really rare and choice material, he has offered to donate one of the cabs to the winner!!!!! (I wish I could win) I did receive 2 of his cabs, and trust me, that alone is reason to get thinking!!!!

The contest has 2 parts, and I will be the judge!!!

Part 1:

I want to hear the most romantic thing your partner has ever done, or you have done for a partner!! I love a good love story, and you know, racy is OK

!!!!

Part 2:
I want to hear a great V-day plan for a rock hound. For example the best romantic thing someone could do for you as a rock lover, tumbler, cabber, etc. Funny always scores points in my book!

All answers must be posted in this thread! You can change as you go, just make sure to change the original post.

The contest will run until 2/9, so that you will receive your prize by Valentine's Day! If you live out of the country, I don't know how much shipping is, so maybe I can ship the cabs, and not so much rock? Does that seem fair, I don't want to exclude members!

So go rent the Notebook! And get writing!!!

V-day prize items

The little cards are to place on your lover's pillow they glow in the dark!

HighPlainsDrifter posted his cab he is giving as part of the prize in this thread.

Rocks and slabs will be decided when I find out what the winner is into, cabbing, tumbling, etc!

Well Jim got me something special today

===about as romance as Jim ever gets ;D
We went to the goodwill and while there found this nice frame of 12 squares with stone inside each square (or most) and the stone name under each stone. There is only 2 stones missing and they sold it for ===get this =====$1.99 , but we got 10% off because we took them a car full of donations. ;D
Also got a nice clear glass bowl very heavy that will hold a lot of polished stone.

and map out the day from there and seeing as this would be a dream we could have all the time we could want to spend at each pin ;D ;D ;D

It was my senior year in high school and a very tall dark and hansome young man caught my eye in English class. Little did I know then that we would share life together.

A little background:
It was mild interest until he passed me by in his '69' 98 convertible. Like a gentleman, he picked me up and drove me home. That did it. I knew I wanted to date him so everyday I made certain that I was walking on the same road that he took and of course, he would pick me up. (yes, women are sceming creatures)lol.

During our courtship, I found out that he had never flown in an airplane before so for his birthday, I took him to a small airport in Cape Cod and we flew to Nantucket Island. The Island is beautiful and we walked the beach and did some window shopping and then had dinner at the Mad Hatter.

When we got back to the airport, our flight was due to leave around 7pm but the fog had rolled in and the flight was delayed and delayed and delayed. Thoughts of being stranded on the island overnight did not bother us in the least :cheesy: , however, we were young and our parents I'm sure were concerned. By 12:00 am, the fog had lifted and our flight took off.

We arrived safely home by 2am.

Perhaps this is not the most romantic story I have but it is a memory that has passed the test of time for us and one that we treasure and retell to others when reminiscing

There was one aspect of my husband that touched my heart very early in our dating years. Whenever we took a walk, he always made certain that he walked on the outside placing himself between me and the traffic. It did not matter if we were on a sidewalk or on a woodsy path. I guess it is the little considerations that I treasure.

A romantic rock hounding date:

That is easy, he and I would dig. He would find something great
but not tell me and then make certain that I would "find" it. Then he would give me the biggest smile and warmest hug showing how happy he was for me.

Of course, I would be doing the same for him. I think the ultimate romance is feeling and expressing joy in your partners happiness.

Actually I do have a story - it all depends on what you consider "romantic".

Years ago before we were dating, we both worked in a restaurant, him in the kitchen and me in the take-out section.

There was a liquid soap dispenser for washing up and he has used it and it had spit soap all over his pants (the soap was whitish colored). I passed by, and pointing to his soiled pants he said "I was thinking of you and you know it got me all excited and then this happened - just from thinking of you "

I, too, have a sick sense of humor - I really fell for him then - yeah I'm not normal either!

My story is kina long because I have to give you some background first. I was married for 29 yrs when my husband suddenly passed away from a massive heart attack at 49yrs. old. The moment I opened the door, I knew he was for me. We stayed up all night and talked about everything. About 4am we decided to go to bed, he thought separate beds as I had 2 bedrooms, but as we were going down the hallway, he was walking backwards with me in front of me, he was ready to turn into the spare bedroom buuuuuuuuttttt I put my hands on his shoulders and continued to push him backwards into my bedroom…. Ohhhhh I know naughty girl lmao
That was the beginning of our great life together..

Until I retired nearly three years ago, I bought a dozen roses for my wife every Friday, now, she scolds me for wasting money if I buy roses for her. I still do, but not every Friday.

Part the two:
With a lot of luck with the weather, a great romantic Valentines day would be a good day of rockhounding making sure my love finds the biggest and prettiest rock, which I carry back, followed by a nice dinner by the campfire, a bottle of Baily's Irish Creme, some fine chocolate dipped strawberries to share, a nice fuzzy blanket to cuddle in, a clear night to watch for shooting stars until late, then into the camper for a passionate finale.
