That is a phanominal creation you made. The butterfliy is gorgeous and I love that it sits on the same rock it was made from. This is just beautiful.

Your efforts sure metamorphosized an not -so-pretty rock into a beautiful butterfly! Bob

Very Beautiful Garry! What did you use for the antennae?

Thanks for the compliments!
Nate, I "borrowed" 2 bristles from a paint brush for the antennae. Garry

Very Pretty! It almost looks like a pet wood replacement but I am sure I am wrong on that. I have some that looks a lot like it. The butterfly is awesome! You did a great job on that! Fran

I cut a small piece of sheetmetal (aluminum or tin) and then bend it at the angle I want the wings to sit at. This piece of metal is about 1 1/2" long by about 3/8" wide. I make a flat spot at the bottom of this piece the width of the butterfly body, so you end up with what looks like a "V" with a flat spot on the bottom of it. Then, I polish the pieces (except where they will be glued) and put it all together with Epoxy 330 (and copious amounts of Scotch tape until it dries). For this piece, I then carved a small piece of wood that fits between the big rock and the butterfly and again glue it with Epoxy 330.

Very excellent job. The domed wings is a nice touch.

Nice job; and great idea to mount it on the source-rock.

That buttefly is wxquisitely beautiful. I especially like how you have displayed it on the same rock source. Definitely metamorphic grandeur!!!!
