I've posted this before but thought it would be OK to post it again here in the new section,,,, I made this entirely out of lead and different temp solders. The exceptions are the base which is a piece of slate I picked up on the road side up in VT and the wire screen which the net is made out of. The most difficult part was the sea gull's wings.Every time I got near the tip of the wings I would melt the whole thing off and have to try again and again and again and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, connrock

I had never seen this before. Wow, you are really talented!!! The only thing I haven't figured out is what are the items sticking up in front of the seagull? I was thinking cattails at first but that is not at the sea..well, that I have ever seen. Again, this is really beautiful! Fran

fran, Those aren't cattails....silly! Those are Hotdogs on a Stick. The Gulls are having a party. ;D ;D ;D Tom...you KNOW i'm just KIDDIN! ;D That is really cool..and I've never seen anything like this either. I would imagine it's very hard to work especially the thinner edges. Lead and solder just melt away in an instant. How did you do the net??? I am really loving this new section. I know there's lots more that needs to be placed in here. Didn't you do a Cross on a Rock too Tom? Steve

That is amazing. You must have put hours of labor into this. Have you done any more? I'd love to see them if you have.
I bet those are bouy markers or lobster trap markers.
Thanks for reposting

Well Fran they ARE cattails! lol no one ever asked why they are in a sea scape before so you win the prize!!! A free trip to "time out" in the corner!! LOL That area looked kind of empty and I couldn't think of anything else to put there! Steve,Thanks,,,,,, Oh sure,,,,first you make fun of my cat tails then you want to know my secrets on how I made the net!!!! Well seeins how I take people "funnin" with me well Ill tell ya fella! The net was made from galvanized screen. This made it much easier to solder. I first formed the screen and then carefully soldered cut pieces of 95/5 together with the little balls of 50/50 solder. By the way,,,,the balls on the net are supposed to be floats and not grapes on a vine! lol Yes Steve I did a couple of crosses. My first was a carving out of white marble found here in CT and my 2nd was made of several pieces of pet wood The first cross was given to my mom for a Mother's Day gift and the second was an Easter gift to a wonderful person and friend Richard Hudson from OK. While we're at it I did this "geetar" out of pet wood and the candle bowl from Colorado Alabaster,,,,,,,, I guess you could call this next one a "creation" ! I wrote, composed, sang (2 parts, male and female)played the instruments and recorded it so I guess I "created" it? It's meant to be funny so I did it in kind of a "crude" way,,,,, This is the CD cover,,,,,, Here's a link to the recording,,,,,, www.4shared.com/account/file/23808181/b5cce5be/LonelyRockhoundLive.htmlsitnwrap,,,,thanks, NO NO NO They aren't buoy markers or lobster trap markers or rockets or cotton candy either!!! Them's is CAT TAILS !!! Boy oh boy,,,,I AM going to get even with Fran for all this confusion over some lousy environmental geography on my part! LOL Now I'm gunna have to melt the whole thing down and start all over again,,,,,,yeah right!!!! I had a LOT of other pieces I did but I either threw them out or gave them away. I have soooooooooooooooo ,many "things" I've done over the years that 1500 sq ft just doesn't seem to be enough room for all of them so some have to go from time to time,,,,,one way or the the! Thanks all for your kind words and "some" of your comments ;D connrock

Every time I think I have seen a master creation, someone else posts yet more creative beauty!!
The seagull is outstanding, Tom!! That is worthy of a prize! The funny thing is, I had no trouble seeing the cattails because the first place I ever saw them growing was in the marshy areas along the inland waterway in South Jersey...right beside the little docks where the rowboats were tied up.
Your crosses are also wonderfully executed!
I'll bet a place like The Hard Rock Casino would love to have a duplicate of your "geetar" and the candle bowl is beautiful.
In the spirit of friendship, I'll hold commentary on your CD. ;D ;D

Steve,,,, I enjoy "messin" with people and besides only a fool would take up "arms" with a young guy like you who's in better shape the Charles Atlas!! Keep the "funnin" comin,,,,I'll match ya tit fer tat! Bejewelme, Thanks,,, Yes this new section gives us all a chance to appreciate what others have created and also gives us some ideas to ponder. I've always seen things in my mind that I would LOVE to bring out but I have a VERY difficult time doing that. I CAN NOT draw so all the "designing" HAS to go from my mind to my hands and makes for a LOT of scrap and frustration. I guess you could say that everything I do comes off the top of my head,,,, Could that be why I'm bald? LOL sitnwrap, Thanks,,,,,, I love playing and "trying" to sing but I haven't even picked up a guitar in several months. I just can't do 2 "things" at the same time and right now I'm stuck in my jewelery "mode"! Lady B, Thanks,,,,,, My CD was a big success,,,,,,well sort of,,,, I made about 30 copies of it and gave most of them away. When I put a price of 5 bucks on them the dust started to find a home on them and it's about 1/2" deep right now! I was thinking of trying to get Billy Hayes (the guy with the beard on TV who sells Oxy-Clean ) to do an ad for me but it's that darn "But wait" "I'm not done yet" "Well give you 2 CD's for the same price" that turned me off!! LOL Thanks all,,,, connrock

naturenut, Thanks,,,, I'm glad at least one person likes it!! LOL LOL My little buddy Homer inspired me to write about "only having 1 shoe".He was under foot (as usual) and I tripped over him and almost dropped the guitar. One of my slippers flew off and that line came to me! Tom, you once told me that you could think for hours and come out with NOTHING. Looking at your creations I think you meant it's NOTHING you cannot imagine and then put in practice in a truly artistic manner. That lead sculpture and the other creations of yours confirm once again that your technical skills and your artistry are both at a high level.

Well, master, I'm stunned! I find a new board and here you are with very creative sculptures, and singing in a falsetto unlike any I have heard before. No wonder you won't do all my soldering for me, and insist on teaching me to do it instead. When I think of all those years you wasted working when you should have been arting!! Tsk, tsk T

Adrian, Thanks, I say that I don't have much creative ability because it takes me hours and hours to bring out where I see others just do it as if it was as simple as breathing. My creative ability could be compared to a choking many trying to take his last breath!
cat'rocks, Thanks, WOW my own cult! Who'd a thunk it!!
mossy'hound, Thanks, I've tried my had at a whole bunch of things in my life and they all seem to come together and help me in one way or the other. I am a true "Jack of all trades Master of none"!
Tony W. Thanks,,,, Boy you sure know how to "Blow Smoke" up the teachers butt!!! The problem with the "teacher" is that he is just about as good as the student and is trying to stay ahead! I'm just a pal in the same "kinny garden" class as you !!
Thanks all!!!

You know, I have been thinking...There are areas in Mississippi and Louisiana that have areas that indent into the land from the Ocean...There could be areas there that have cattails by the sea so you could be right there. ;D Besides that, each item you have shown in this thread should have their own thread. You really are very talented and I am truly enjoying all that you have posted! (OK, can I come out of the corner now .) Fran
