Well its slab bucket time again!! The cold weather has kind of slowed the cutting down, and 2 of my saws have stripped the threads off the feed nuts, so the automatic feed is not working on those 2 (what are the odds of 2 saws stripping nuts at the same time? must be weather related or something else in common to cause that) But anyways, to get back on topic, here are some slabs from the Green Owyhee jasper a few closeups Blue African Pietersite and a small piece of Carnelian I LOVE THIS STUFF!! Carnelian and Blue Pietersite Thanks for looking....................Tony

What exactly is Green Owyhee? I've seen you refer to it a couple times, but I've never heard of it before now.

Ronda, Green Owyhee is a general name for jasper that comes out of the border area of the Owyhees. Go over the hill it is called Rocky Butte, go down the road a little ways, it is Wildhorse, over about 20 miles it is Morrisonite or Rimrock. If it does not have a claim or a name attached to it, then the old timers just call it Green Owyhee, Brown Owyhee or Red Owyhee, depending on the material itself. (I just learned this myself a few weeks ago)
Ralph/Maryann, the first cab I made out of it fractured right down the middle on one of those squiggly lines, the next cab was real solid, so I can't say for sure. It seems fairly solid, but there are spots where it looks like it might crack. Some of the matrix grinds kind of like boulder opal, and makes a mess.
Thanks for the comments..................Tony
