Now that I have two 3 lb bad boys ....
Just a couple of questions I cannot seem to see the answers in the manual....
With the twin barrel tumbler .... there are no barrel guides.
From what I can see .... both barrels are to be back-to-back or butt-to-butt ....
I see nothing else in the instructions that say otherwise ....
Please correct me if I'm wrong
Thanks again!!! Julie
ps ... they are both tumbling

I run my barrels my barrels whichever way they happen to hit the tumbler! Right now they are both facing the same way, next time they may be butt to butt. I don't think it matters as long as they are rolling! llana

Nope it does matter. If ya run the top to bottom very long, the lid nut will grind a hole in the bottom of your other barrel. They should be butt to butt like in the pic. Also, the nylon bumper washer will eventually wear out and have to be replaced so the metal lid doesn't start to grind against the frame. Wasn't paying attention to my QT66 and had that happen.....Mel

Wasn't paying attention to my QT66 and had that happen.....Mel I do run my 6#r butt to butt - that's the only way it will run smoothly. One 3#r I can run butt to butt with no problem. The other one is dysfunctional! If I put the barrels butt to butt, the barrel on the left will "walk" down the rods until it is rubbing against the frame. There is not a washer there. I got it used and I don't think it had a washer when I got it. If I put them both with bottoms toward the motor, the left barrel DOESN'T move and rub against the frame. I can put the barrels butt to butt on it with a good space between the frame and barrel and in just a few seconds, that barrel is up against the frame and the other barrel hasn't moved. If I turn it facing the same way as the other, it stays were I put it. Dysfunctional, I tell ya'! Kinda like it's owner! ;D Guess I should get some new washers all the way around. They are all getting a bit worn. llana

I am up to four dual Lortone tumblers (yikes!) and I run them all butt-to-butt. I had been running them for a few months the other way (both nuts pointing in the same direction) and was slowly losing the rubber from the bottom of the barrels. I finally read a similar thread to this one and corrected my mistake. D'oh! It is so obvious in retrospect but never occurred to me.
