Just looking for some helpful advice here...
I have a few hundred pounds of sweet Selenite specimens here, ranging from a pound to over 20 pounds. There's satin spar as well as top caps. I even have quite a bit of the rare green stuff. It's not lapidary material, so I know that this forum isn't the place to sell it. Obviously, I need to target "new agers". Ebay, with the new "anti-selling" rules, is out of the question.
I need recommendations of where to sell these specimens.

What are the "anti-selling" rules that you're referring to? Maybe you could try www.etsy.com? I see several selenite items on there now and the descriptions are very new age (all about the healing properties). You might also try Dirty Rockhounds: dirtyrockhounds.proboards19.com/index.cgi#generalHere's another one I just found: auctions.webstore.com/Rocks-Fossils-and-Minerals,category,3001,parent_id,categories I don't know how well known that is, but it's no fee. One more thought: there's a local rock store, the Enchanted Rock Garden, that caters to new agers. Maybe they would be interested? May not get as much money as piecing it out, but you may be able to sell it all. Enchanted Rock Garden 6445 Lyndale Ave S Richfield, MN 55423-1405 Phone: (612) 866-1140 Chuck

You can also try Dragonsaye Auctions. It's more for lapidary materials, and you definitely have to list it at a price that you're actually willing to sell it for, but it's another avenue.

Hmm, I think there are auctions at mindat.org - sounds like you might have items interesting to mineral collectors?

This is a green selenite in my collection. Is this the type of green selenite that you are talking about? If so, can you post a picture? different view. it's about 12" across

Wow, Bob! You've got some nice stuff there. Why not post some of it in the Specimen section?

Thanks Curt & Jo
I didn't even know there was a "specimens" section! Haven't been here in awhile. I collect minerals more than work with them, so maybe someday when I have a bunch of time to kill I will post a thread there.
I did a lot of reading to try to catch up on what I've missed in the past months, and I hope things are going better for you MJ. I'm sorry that I missed a couple of those auctions. What a great group of folks here!
I also saw that the selenite that you are talking about here is probably the spar selenite... When you get a chance to get back to digging, I'm always interested in high quality Chrysocolla.
Take care all ~

Thank you all very much for your replies! Now that my life is settled back to something resembling "normal", I want to get this Selenite moving. I sent lparker pics, info, and pricing on 22 chunks of the Selenite, and whichever of those pieces he doesn't buy I'm going to put on ebiddz. However, I still have hundreds of pounds more, and I'll be collecting more in the near future. It will be on-going.
Chuck ... do you happen to have a link for The Enchanted Rock Garden in Richfield?
Akansan, I just looked at ALL of the listings on Dragonsaye Auctions. Although it doesn't seem like a probable good place for Selenite specimens, it may be a good place for some of my other stuff, like tumbling rough, agate, chrysocolla, etc. I'll definately look into it further. Thank you!
DeanW, mindat's page says, "Currently under final development - thank you for your patience - you will soon be able to buy and sell minerals on mindat.org through our custom auction service" ... so it's something to look forward to in the near future. I bookmarked it. Thanks!
Captbob, unfortunately, my green Selenite doesn't look anything like that specimen of yours. That's a REAL beauty!
