Hi folks, I just received a wonderful, couldn't get any fuller, box of Fantastic rocks from Michael John! My husband was complaining because he said he could have gotten a hernia from the weight of this FRB when he took it from the mail man. ;D I guess I should start off by saying I had asked Michael John to fill a box up with what he thought I would like and I requested that if he had anything in the area of Amethyst and Rhodochrosite, I would buy that too. That is a pretty tall order to fill when you only know someone by the RTH but he sure did a fantastic job! I have to show what was in this box: Here is the whole group and I still don't know how he got it all in the box A few pics of what looks to be some kind of vein agate. they are sure pretty! This looks to be a brecciated Jasper The ones in the center are black and white. I don't know what they are but they are neat looking This one you can see more of the purple and some yellow Jaspers? A good size chunk of Chryssecola with some others... All very pretty! The Amethyst I had asked for Some cute little crystal formations Some sage amethyst and some Rhodochrosite(?) Whew! I told you there was a lot! Everything is so pretty and there are some good size chunks in here. I just may have to get the big ones sliced up instead of breaking them up since they are so pretty! Thank you Michael John! Fran

MJ can pack a mean box eh!? I recognize that Seam Agate, Amethyst and Chrysocolla. It's really cool to drive across one part of the country to harvest rock in a remote desert, and then the next week see photos of those same rocks posted from the totally opposite coast of this country! Sweet! ;D We had a blast finding them...I hope you have just as much fun working with them!

I know I am sure going to NSR! I bought a box before that had a lot of the purple stuff in it. I spent this past weekend getting it all cut up into smaller pieces for the tumbler and possibly for a few cabs or preforms. It sure is a hard rock and I hope it takes a good shine that will show off how pretty it is! Some of the seam agate is small and hard to figure what will be the best way to orient them to get some cabs out of them. This is all pretty stuff! Fran

Glad you liked it all, Fran!
I really love the agate/seam agate that Steve and I collected. I'll definately be going back to that area to explore for more possibilities. The next time I go, I'm going to hike to the top of the volcano there!
Fran, that black and grey stone is what I THINK is a particular material that Steve and I were looking-for near Owlhole Springs, but didn't think we found. When I was sorting through our finds, I saw one chunk, which I'm pretty sure is "the stuff", but I'm not positive. I don't remember the name of the stuff off-hand.
I'll be looking forward to pics of it all after you've worked your magic!
