Great collection! I think my favorite is the "ink blot" - I'm not sure I've ever seen the soft colors like that before. Susan

Those look great!! Don't forget, the secret to a good vibe tumble is filling the bowl to the proper level. You already know this, but I'm reminding you because of all the times I got impatient and said "screw it, I'm starting the tumbler right now!" lol

Those are all beautiful! I would watch the softer stones though. The others may try and beat them up and they are just too pretty to loose! I am really looking forward to your final. These should really be great! Fran

NSR and Bouldergal, Thanks! I can't wait to see either! Randy, Yep! I'm cutting a little more today of some stuff I just got from Shannon, just to make sure! Fran, This is all harder stuff. I carefully separated out the softer stones for a separate load before I posted this. Some of my local stuff is loaded with druzy pockets that I've filled with super glue. Are you seeing something that should go in the softer load?

Hey Jo...
I have some Lakers put aside that have some cool druzy pockets. Some of them are little more than druzy and have bigger crystals in the pockets.
You mentioned you used super glue. Is there a way to use wax or a temporary material to protect larger interesting pockets in a tumble?

Gosh, I've read about it, let me search for it. Maybe someone who has worked with druzy pockets can save us with an answer!

NSR, It might mean stabilizing with something like super glue or Opticon and cleaning them out really well between stages, to the point of scrubbing them out with a toothbrush. Well Randy's right and I added some saw cuts, tiny agate pieces and other great material from Bejewelme. I'll run it in fine grit in my vibe for another two days to round everything before I add my preshapes. I had one last warm day on Friday to cut some material from Weeshan that arrived Thursday night. Couldn't wait, had to get some in this load. Mozarkite from Weeshan, and Marmalade Jasper from Randy will be going into the vibe. I'll keep you posted on its progress.

LOL. No, Julie. I just know a good guy named BikerRandy who is willing to answer all my dumb questions until I get it right! When you get your vibe (and I know you will), you'll be turning out some crazy-awesome vibe cabs! You'll see!

Well, the official load has been started! On Tuesday, I sorted out the rough pitty stuff and kept those that were rounded and ready to roll and added them to my preshapes. Some of my local druzy jaspers were too pitty to go on, and that's ok, my spot in PA is not known for its jaspers, LOL. So, here's some pics of the load at its Bon Voyage in 220 grit. Oh, and I snuck in some preshapes of the Graveyard Point Plume Agate that Shannon sent me, but forgot to take pics. Here is the load: Added a couple tsp of plastic pellets and a pinch of borax to help sliding. Gonna try to keep the level high enough so that they roll gently, and not knock together. I have a bunch of teenies and a couple bigger stones from previous batches to add throughout the process. Jo BTW, that was a stink-bug, not a roach in the first pic... they've infiltrated! There, cropped it out! LOL.

Jo, Your local stuff , do you go over to the ocean for that or a gravel pit, or can you get them from the waterway going past your city??

That looks like a nice batch Jo. I am looking through all of my stuff now to see what will go in the vibe next. Some aventurine will be going back to the drawing board but that will be down the line a bit. Time for a change. Fran

I'm a little late to the show, but I've read somewhere on here that people have been successful filling druzy pockets with beeswax and then putting the stones in hot water to get the wax back out.
Haven't tried it myself yet, but I intend to.
