In a recent post, there was some reference to plastic pellets verses ceramic pellets.
Admittedly, I thought the pellets were basically just a filler to cushion a tumbled load in the final grind and polish stages.
Is one product better than the other?
All opinions welcome. Thanks!

Each are useful in different applications. Plastic pellets work well in rotary tumblers for filler, cushioning, and spreading the grit around. If you are reusing plastic pellets be sure to keep them separate by grit. Grit tends to get stuck in the plastic pellets so you don't want to use the same pellets you used with the 60/90 grit with subsequent finer grits. Plastic pellets don't work in vibratory because they tend to rise to the top. Ceramic pellets are more useful in vibratory tumbling and would tend to grind up too fast in rotary tumbling in the rough stage of grinding.

I have always used ceramic pellets in stage 1, and segregated plastic pellets for stages 2, 3 &4. But have only used ceramic pellets if I need to take up additional space.
