Hello to all of you. I came across this site while doing some searching on rock hounding and lapidary...and I am so pleased to have found this site. I did a lot of lapidary as a wonderful hobby when I received my first tumbler unit back in about 1975 and kept adding "stuff" (home built and store bought) to my lapidary set up and shop until about 1985. However at that time (1985)various circumstances and many job related location moves resulted in me packing up all of my equipment and that is the way it has been since 1985. I am now 66 yrs. old and there is just me and my dog "Boots" where we live. So now after 24 years have passed since I last enjoyed my lapidary hobby, and now having enough room, I am going to set up a little lapidary hobby shop for my self and jump back in. After browsing through some of the lapidary sites I visited today....Well.....the bug has really bitten me and I think I better get back at it again before they carry me out of here in a pine box...lol. Hopefully I still have a few good years left to re-persue the hobby and art of LAPIDARY. Who knows, maybe during this summer I can even do a little rockhounding (medical issues and health permitting). I live in a little town called Stettler located in the central area of the Province of Alberta, in Canada, and if you look at a map of Alberta you will see I am not very far away from the Rocky Mountains (about a 3 to 3 and a half hour drive) so I think I might just give the rockhounding a shot come this summer cuz right now we are "up to it" in SNOW. Oh how I hate Alberta winters.....Oh well.....Maybe if I win a lottery....lol.....I will pack up one more time and move to some place nice and warm, like Arizona....lol. Well there you have it....a thumb sketch of this semi-newbie. I look forward to maybe hearing back from some of you folks, and once again....a very BIG HELLO TO YOU ALL.

Well, Hello and welcome to the board! I am glad that you are finally getting back into the lapidary fun! It sounds like you have a wonderful amount of equipment to get set up and when you do, share pictures. We all love that. Maybe we can even learn something from you on how you made some of it. There is a great group of people here so I really think you will like it! Don't get too cold now, spring is just around the corner (I hope). Fran

Welcome arollingstone, hope you like it here as much as I do. I'm more of a jewelry maker, but I do cut and grind a little. Folks here are really helpful and talented too!

Welcome to RTH arollingstone! As already said, lots of great people here with tons of information. Seeing that you have had experience before I wouldn't be suprised that you would have some tricks up your sleeve to share with the rest of us. ;D If you can it would be great to see some of your homemade stuff. There is a section just for that! Don

Welcome arollingstone, welcome, You won't be sorry you are starting up again. I just turned 65, and have been at it since age 10 when Mom & Dad bought me one of those $8.00 rotary tumblers. (try and get one for $8 today). I have learned much about all the "rocky ways" in my life and still learning through this BB. There is a great bunch of people here. We all like pics of what you did, and what you are working on now. If I can be of any help, do not hesitate to Email. Oh yea, did I mention we all like pics! I live in the Black Hills of SD, Fairburn Agate Country. WOW, Rockin', what a life. Bob M.

arollingstone, Forgot to mention an item. It took me 3 months to find it in the beginning, but if you left click on the yellow names, it will take you to their bios, and a possible website you can look at. Some great pics and info on those websites. Have a good day.
