I have noticed that most agree that about 1/3 is lost in the rough tumble. My question is, how much more can I expect to lose in the following three steps? Or will they pretty much remain the same after the initial 60/90 phase?

Hi Banjocreek, The amount of bulk lost in rolls after the 80 is hard to spot from my experience. The 80 phase does 99% of the shaping - everything else thereafter is just working on the surface of the stone at a fine level. The better shaped your stones are before they go into the 80, the less you will feel you have to grind them down - thus losing less "bulk". Also, I tend to never bother recharging at 220, 400 - so the amount of time these phases take is less also - thus further reducing the chances (albeit small) of losing more bulk. Andrew
