Hi, Great place .... Just got back into tumbling after 25 years or so. So much more information thanks to the Net. Now for my question. I am running an old Thumbler 3Lb and I am in the pre-polish phase. My old instructions state to run the P/P stage for (3) days however, I see more and more on the net that many run this phase for as long as (10) days. What would you all recommend for time periods for pre polish and final polish stages??? Oh, BTW, I also bought a real crappy batch of stones off of eBay that were no way near what they were pictured to be. Anyone sell various type of "interesting" stone rough HI ... THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT IDEAS, I WILL POST PHOTOS WHEN THEY ARE FINISHED. GREAT PLACE TO MEET FELLOW ROCK HOUNDS .... THANKS ! LOU

Yep, I think 5-10 days is good. Just depends on how the stones feel and if you think they are ready to go on to the polish. Good luck with your batch! Fran

I have been running P/P for 1 week, adding 1 TBSP, then running another week. Seems to help shine a little.

I typically run the pre-polish for one week. When running the final polish I find the longer it runs the better. I get antsy at this point and have not been able to go more than 3 weeks. After both pre-polish and final polish I will run the rocks with borax for 2 to 48 hours as a burnish cycle. I find that 2 hours is plenty of time for this; sometimes I don't get back to it right away so that is why I run it longer.
