Last summer I was rock hounding on the beach while every normal person was sunbathing. I found this rock and when I got home I looked at it for a bit then put it in my small rock pile and really didn't pay anymore attention to it. Before this last storm all the snow had melted and the rock caught my eye again so I took it inside and cleaned it up. The vein goes all the way around the rock. It's about 15-20 lbs and fills an FRB first side: close up: second side: close up: closer: Well, you know I took my loupe and put it up against my camera lens;D The pockets are so deep and are throughout or should I say throughin the rock that I was wishful thinking GEODE. I wanted to show what I found, thanks for looking.

Good eye! Good experiment! Putting the loupe to the camera! Do you recall what originally caught your eye about the rock? I like quartz veins in rock. Especially when you cab an opaque stone and there a thin vein that lets the light thru! Those sunbathers must of thought what the heaeck are you doing walking around with a that big rock! No one was going kick sand on you!

Harley, really? Gold?? MA is not know to have gold but I've found stuff on that beach that others say weren't suppose to be there. I didn't notice but I also wasn't looking, I'm going to now ;D deeptime, it was the graggyness of the vein that caught my eye. I have learned that graggyness in veins of rocks often mean there is something worth looking at. Shannon, I was thinking of ya as I was looking through my loupe.

Quartz is such a great rock. It has so many varied shapes it's unreal. Nice find!
