Howdy folks. Just a pic of some things I found on my last few walks. The largest knife base is about 6" long and I found it a couple of weeks ago. Still looking for that perfect flint point. Lots of flint working areas and camps but no great finds yet.....Mel

Mel,
Second piece in, bottom left, appears to be a drill, does it show any signs of wear on the tip ? The picture looks as if it is still sharp as the day it was made !

Cool Mel, I can't believe all that stuff is laying around and no one has picked it up yet. Keep looking, you gonna hit the jackpot one of these days.

Harley: Yup, I figured a broken drill too.
Curt: I met a guy the other day that had hunted artifacts here back in the 1970's when the first homes were being built. He said the ground was littered with points in many areas. I noticed when I was down working the horses the other day, the corral is full of broken artifacts and flint chips. Figures they'd build the tennis courts and stables on top of all the good stuff.....Mel

If anyone is going to find the perfect point, it'll be you. Nice finds. I was wondering, where flint is so sharp and you have found them in the corral, is this a danger to the horses hooves, I think it's called the frog (the fleshy inside)?
I love horses and that's why I thought of that.

Nice Finds Mel. I'd have to agree with Lori....if anyone finds a jackpot....you'll be the one to do it. I'm positive there's plenty there to be found. Everytime it rains it should bring new stuff to the surface. It amazes me that in even certain places rockhounding.....where everyone say's it's been picked over....lo and behold...someone will still surely hit a jackpot. Steve

Lori: Yeah, I'm sure it would be a bit of a danger to the horses except flint flakes and points etc. tend to naturally lay flat with the surface so they don't present as much of a hazard as you might think. We do though, curry the horses and take care of their hooves every time before we ride so we make sure nothing is caught up in the hooves.....Mel
