Howdy folks, Just brought out a larger batch of stones this morning. It's another mixed bag but I included a lot of material from right here in my yard so I photographed it separately. Anyway, here are some pics. Thanks for looking....Mel Stuff from right around the house.Have a small dry creek through the lot and it's full of flint, that odd psuedomorph material and some limestone with orbs and swirls of blue and gray chalcedony. Whole lot: Closeup of some of the big ones. The pseudomorph is top center. My favorite is the deep blue/black chalcedony orby stuff to the right. It all polishes up like glass. Rest of the mixed batch, jasper, tigereye, bubblegum agate, Indian stuff etc. Some favorites from the batch, clockwise from top left, condor agate, Baker Ranch T-Egg, Queenie slice, and a slice of jasper from up at our old place at Hornitos, CA.

Great stuff Mel! One question. Is there any certain way you tumble the thunder egg, or just throw a chunk in the tumbler?
Thanks
Nate

Nate: That egg is just the end cap off a medium sized egg. it spent a long time in coarse grind and with Baker eggs, the matrix polishes well to so I just ran it as I would any other quartz gem. It is a pretty big piece though so I had it in with lots of smaller stuff to prevent it from smacking around and cracking the rest of the load....Mel

That stuff looks great Mel, you've almost got me ready to move to Texas. I kinda like having all that flint nearby. I think one of these days you're going to be showing us some arrowheads you've made with it.

Looking good Mel, I like the black orby one too. Flint and chert polish so nice.

Great job as usual, Mel. I was just working today with some local stuff that we found on our road. It is so satisfying to tumble found material! Although mine is not nearly as varied and interesting as yours. Thanks for posting another great tumble!

Mel...the shine you put on rocks is insane! The reflection of the window in that last photo is tack sharp. Outstanding.
Have you put your tumbling formula for quartz on the forum somewhere? I'd like to follow it, as best I can, for the batch I have coming out of rough grind soon.

Looks like the whole batch turned out really well! I love the local stuff. The patterns are subtle and very pretty and your others look bright and beautiful! Fran

Beautiful batch. The thunderegg chunk is great. Wish I had a creek bed like that in my backyard.

I really like how that looks. I'll have to chop up a thunder egg one of these days and tumble it. Nate
