Okay, I finally tried one too. Bought the cab Sunday at the Owyhee show from Silver Streams. Bruneau Jasper. Forget what gauge wire but copper square, half hard. Why do my wraps on the bindings want to slant? Should I try to keep the square, square? Should I be using dead soft? Any and all criticism, help, appreciated.

Nancy: That is a great cab, and I think it looks great with that cooper wire!!! I am not a wrapper so I don't see any problems!!! Keep at it! Amber

Use 1/2 round wire for your wraps, or at least round wire. Hard to keep square wire even as wrap wire. Close your loops so it wont pick a sweater. Other than that, you did a great job. It will take 3 or 4 to really get the hang of it. Keep it up. You are doing greeeeeeaaaat. I like your style.

Lovely job. The color coordination is perfect and your wrap is great! Someday I'll be brave enough to try! Susan

You did a great job with that wrap and the copper looks wonderful with the bruneau.
I use half round for all my bindings. The 1/2 round would fix the slant issue.

Well, you have certainly been paying attention! That is great for your first one. I agree with everyone else, half round , half hard wire for the bindings. Hold the wire close to where you are going to bend it, push it around and over then crimp, crimping each bend over as you go. Don't squeeze to hard though cause it will leave marks, end your bingings on the inside facing the back of your wrap. I think you are well on your way to being a great wrapper. Tigger

Love your choice of using copper on that stone, you did a wonderful job on it. Now you are hooked. The next step in your rock addiction. Tami

Very nice Nancy! Definitely use 1/2 round for the binding. You also might want to tape your tools, or file the edges to minimize scratches and marks on the wire. I love working with copper, and this was a great choice for this pretty cab.
Keep on going, doing great! kj

That's an awesome first wrap, and honestly it's just an awesome wrap. Use half-round on the next one and it will be perfect!!

Wow that is way better than my first. Nice design and you got the symmetry down pretty darn well. After a few more you'll get the feel of the wire and get it to work better for you.. I'm looking forward to seeing your next.
