Hello,
I have been away from this board for about two years, yikes! During that time I have been working a degree in geophysics and have just been too busy to do much rock work.
anyway, I was looking through what i have to process and clearly I will never in my life tumble close to all i have. So I am selling some rough to make room in the garage, if I do well I might get a car in there...
so I have the following, which i would like to sell in lots and will gladly ship in flat rater boxes. buyer pays shipping.
I have the following:
white agate, some has a lot of banding some not so much, 10.5 lbs @$1/lb
Mixed "agatey" stuff, some of this is clearly agate, some is translucent and may have banding. this is all nice stuff some of it may be premium once you get to work on it. the piece in front has some real nice color! 13 lbs @$1/lb
Jasper with mixed red and yellow colors, this is real nice material. 5 lb@$1.50/lb
A mixture of jaspers, flints and cherts, various colors and qualities. some of this is really nice others rather plain. big hunks down to quarter sized, mostly bigger. there is 20 lb plus total, will sell in 5 lb lots @$1/lb
sections of quartz crystals and some pieces of masive quartz, not sure how well the crystals will work out. 5 lb@$1/lb
Quartx "nodules" these things look sort of like thundereggs but they are quartz crystals, these are NOT HOLLOW! I have no idea how they might tumble. 5.5 lbs@$1/lb
Turritella agate, this is some nice but very hard turritella. this piece is 3.5 lbs but i have some more similar pieces and could let some of it go. I have slabbed some of this and it has been pretty good, some slabs had small air holes. this should tumble well but be patient. $5 for the piece, $1.50 /lb if you want some more.
A really nice brazillian agate half. 1.5 lbs $5 for the piece. In the same pic is a really nice rock that I do not have an ID for 3.5 lbs for $7.
two really nice pieces, small one is 1/2 pound for $1 with any other purchase, bigger is 2.2 pounds it is very translucent and has very interesting patterns great buy for $5 for the piece.
bag of obsidian nodules, these are dime to half dollar in size. they will work great in a smaller tumbler as they arrive. I can give you a recipe too if you need one, I have done many of these and they turn out great and go quick. 4lbs for $5.
Three agates with very nice color and banding, lots of potential in these. 1.25 lbs total $3.
Free Stuff: while sorting through my boxes of rough to make up these lots I also pulled out a bunch of rough that is a little too rough! All of it has some good stuff in it but it is hard to tell how good, or how much good stuff is there. If you are a newbie and are willing to pound on these a bit they are yours for the postage. this is mostly jasper from rock hound state park in Deming, New Mexico. there is some cherty stuff and a few piece that may contain some agate and quartz. Again, this is not high class stuff, its not junk either, but it will be worth the cost of postage. pound it to size and you will fill your tumbler a time or two. I will add a couple of pounds of petrified wood and some other goodies to this box to make sure you get a little better deal.
Please check my history of trades/buys/sales on this board and you will see that I am an OK guy to deal with. You can pay me however you like, MO, check or paypal. If you are interested please drop a note and I will get back to you with my phone number and contact info so that we can work something out.
Thanks
Jerry
