I'm planning to head down to Madras and dig at Richardson's Thurday April 2-Sunday April 5th. This will depend on the roads on the ranch. I'll call them a week or two in advance to see if the roads are open yet. I'll probably stay at the Inn at Cross Keys Station, which is owned by the Priday family.
Anyone interested in meeting up? I've dug at all their beds and I usually get 60-100 pounds of high-graded eggs per day. During this trip, I may also hit some of the jasper ledges.
If it looks like the roads won't be passable, I may head down to Prineville instead.

HPD: Like you say if the roads....it might be a wee bit early, but I am ready for a trip that way. If we make it, we will camp at the ranch.........or Prineville if the ranch roads are wet. I plan on spending several days at Maury Mountain this spring, so may go there if the snow is gone. Woody

If it's raining in Madras, it could be clear out past Prineville. If it has been raining heavily, I may head out to Congleton Hollow and look for any limb casts that may have washed out.

I just made my first trip into Prineville on Friday March 13th and it looks like it'll be awhile before the Ochoco's are open for digging! I've been keeping tabs on the Ochoco's trying to get into my claims.... Cabin fevers getting the best of me! Lots of snow still on the hills around Prineville. So your best bet would be heading down to Limb Cast bed, unless it's raining then it might be muddy for you. I keep thinking myself heading down to the limb cast bed... Been years since I've visited. Last time I was there I had a Rattlesnake dang near nail me in the leg... I also stopped in Richardson's on Friday and the beds are still too wet for them to open. Keep calling though, who knows when John might open the beds. This coming weekend (21st) is the Flintknapping pow-wow at Glass Butte. I'll be camping over the weekend but looks like it'll be a muddy son of a gun! Jason www.oregonthundereggs.com

I'll call Richardson's the week before and see.

Dan: We got in early May last year.....I kept calling every couple of days until it stopped raining. Jason says there is still snow on the hills, and that makes Maury Mountain a gamble too.
