I went to my first meeting last night for the Conejo Gem & Mineral Club.
I went early as the VP said he would be in the lap lab if I wanted to come early and play.
OOOOOOOOO AHHHHHHHHHH
He let me play with the grinder with automatic water. He also showed me the tile saw with water, the bigger grinder with water for really big stuff, and the finale ...
A hugh black metal container with a lid that when you open it, it has a really big (I think he said a 24") saw that is for really big and hard rocks.
He says that anytime I want to come down, just give him a call and if his schedule (he says is almost always allows) lets him he will meet me there and let me work.
How cool is this?!!!
As always ...

Lorie: It is just great to hear that you found a club with a shop. This IS a really great way to start out in lapidary, as you will learn what works best for you, and waht does not without going through the trials and tribulations of searching it out, and buying it yourself plus you have the years of experience the clubs members have right at hand.
