Here is a polish I finished today. Mainly rough rock, but some shaped. We have some Carnelian, Bloodstone, Blue Lace, Goldstone, Tiger Eye, Banded Agate, Black Sheen Obsidian, Red Jasper, Seftonite, Green Aventurine, Blue Aventurine and some other bits and pieces of which I haven't a clue. The majority (In my opinion) came out just fine, especially the Carnelian. However, some of them came out a teeny weeny bit underpar. Would you wait and put them back in with another polish or just accept them as they are? The reason I say it is an unorthodox polish is because the barrel was way way fuller than it should have been. and There was no packing in there whatsoever, barely enough room to put the lid on let put in plastic pellets.

Whether you want to try to do a bit better on those that don't meet your standards is your call. If you want them better and think you can get them better, then go for it. IMO, overall, that's a gorgeous batch. The carnelian looks spectacular!

Well, actually, I wasn't sure if reducing the batch size and putting in PP would make much difference.

Stupid question ...
How in the world did a barrel that was stuffed so full it could not have tumbled, come out so pretty?

Love your preshapes, and your material, and boy did they turn out nice. It's a toss up on whether they're good enough or not, I suspect that it would just take another week to get the shine you're looking for though. (that is, in a rotary, or a couple of days in a vibe) Jo

Very colorful indeed!
Being that I am who and what I am I just can't settle for nothing short of a perfect shine on my rocks. It may be a curse or something but it's me and that's that!
For one thing you have different hardness rocks in the same load. Another is that without the proper size load the rocks just cant get tumbled and sort of just go for a ride round and round the barrel.
If ya like um like they are they are FINE!!
If ya don't ya gotta go for the gold and separate the rocks and do um over again!
Hope I'm not in trouble here??

Connrock, not in trouble at all, thats what this question is all about.
Needing to reduce the size of the load, add some PP and re-do the polish stage. Easy as that.
Thanks everyone for you comments. Critisism/comments creates better practices and results.

Hi John, impressive batch with very few impact fractures, though it looks as if you have 1 stone with an impact fracture, in the 1st barrel pic, center bottom (Blue Lace Agate with the green speckled mica stone on it's left).
