My family and I attended the Fox Rocks Show at the Weis Earth Science Museum in Menasha Wisconsin today. This was my (our) first show and it was a fun experience. Besides looking at all the great collections being displayed, my daughters got to hand polish a piece of kona dolomite and do a scavenger hunt to earn an agate bracelet. I bought a few slabs to someday cab, my wife bought her mom a marble, and the girls bought some carved animals and grab bags with several different items in them. I'm very excited that I got to see a specimin of some labradorite found near wausau. I've read it's also called wausau moonstone. It's really beautiful, and I hope to someday be able to collect some myself. Here's a few photos of my daughters sanding then polishing their dolomite Here's a look at the slabs I bought. They were 4 for $5.00 - I don't know if this is a good price or not... A few of them backlit i94.photobucket.com/albums/l100/green-villain/polishing rocks/P3140085.jpg[/IMG] And lastly here's a bad photo of the labradorite Thanks for looking. Nate

Thanks guys. Yeah, it was a fun time. The girls had fun, Emily my younger one won a door prize. She chose a great white shark jaw model kit. It's pretty cool, you put all the wood pieces together then mold clay over it and paint it. So far she's got it about 1/4 done.

I think that when you get a chance to go to these shows, you just never know what you will find and it is a wonderful discovery for the whole family. I think your prices were about average. Sometimes you find them for less and sometimes more. Just depends. Fran

Thanks Fran. I figured the price wasn't too bad. I would think the location of the material in respect to where it's for sale would impact price too.
