I was coming back from Noonan ND today and noticed a pile of non snow covered rock on the west side of the highway just outside of Estevan. Couldn't resist a quick look. Almost froze with the wind howling and freezing temperatures so only stayed about 5 minutes. Found a couple nice ones though. When I got home my daughter reminded me she was supposed to go collecting with me first time out. So we bundled up with toques, scarfs and mits and headed back out (if you don't know what a toque is its a woolen hat and I hope you live in Alaska in your next life). We lasted about 20 minutes that way. Anyhow here is what we found.

It is just starting to show through the snow. It will be another week or two before I can see the ground.
