Is it possible for me to post a competition for something ... even though I do not have anything (YET) to give as a prize?

I have an idea for a friend of mine and I will post what I would like to do and if a competition is something I cannot do without there being prize ... that is okay too ...

Julie, You can do anything you want! Lots of us participate just for the fun of it! Why not give a box of leather scraps for a prize? Or, I'd be willing to put up an FRB of Blue Quartz and Citrine for the prize for ya.
