I know it has been about 8 weeks since I posted pictures of the Apache Tears Jolyn and I found out in Superior, but we finally have a batch done. It took about 6 weeks from start to finish. I have had a few people e-mail me about these since they have had a spot of trouble getting good results and I am happy to help. What we started with- After 6 weeks- Find the wayward "crash pellet"... I really love these things. Especially in a bowl or vase. Thanks for looking! -Michael

That's amazing! I have been afraid to do the ones I have because I have heard how hard it is to do them. I guess I am going to have to ask for your secrets on how you do this! Fran

I went to Superior twice when I was in Mesa. I never did find the apache tears. Is it on the north or south side of the highway? I did find some interesting material on the south side on a roadf past the wiegh station/landfill or what ever you call it.

Secrets, you want secrets? Here is how I do it... www.banjo-creek.com/tips.htmlThe only thing I can add is that I fill the barrel 1/2 to 5/8 full of tears and fill with pellets about 1/4 inch from top. The water comes to just below the top level of stones. So there is always plenty of pellets to cushion the tears. The second thing is that I have always used tin oxide as polish on obsidian and it works great. The third thing is do not leave them in polish too long or the edges will begin to get dinged up and go white. Sometimes 4 days is long enough. The fourth thing is I always use a pre-polish or a grit of 1000 before going to polish so that the polish does not have to work so hard and they CAN come out in 4 days. Good Luck!
