Well here is the second group of the 5 or 6 I will be posting. Having a few weeks off from school I went crazy and have made around 60 cabs.
Wonderstone. Amber gave me this little piece to cab. Seems like all I cab is rocks from her these days. You would never know that I have 500 lbs. of rock sitting in my basement.
Unknown. Randy gave me this piece but I don't know what it is. Hopefully he will chime in. It was pretty soft but took a nice shine.
Unknown agate. I got this in a box from Builtonrocks. It was the weirdest looking chunk on the outside. The colors remind me a bit of fire agate but I don't think it is.
Rainbow Ridge jasp agate. I got a decent sized chunk of this on ebay. Lots of different colors in the chunk.
Moonstone. Another from Amber. Tons of flash in this one.
Mexican opal. I got 20 small pieces of this for $7 at a show last year and wish I had bought the whole tub of it. There were lots of pits and fractures in this one and it took copious amounts of CA glue to fill them in. It has lots and lots of flash, mostly purple with some green. I domed both sides since I couldn't decide which side was better as the front.
Mariposite quartz. I got a mixed box on ebay from a collector in CA and this was one of the pieces. I love green rocks so this one is a fav but what really gets me is the cubes of pyrite floating in it. The chunk is several pounds so I expect to get a lot more cabs from it.
Laguna agate. The patterns are almost as odd as the shape. This one will probably end up as a refrigerator magnet.
Coyomito (sp?) agate. I got a small chunk of this on ebay and this is the very end cut. Its the size of a nickle but the pattern is really cool. The white dots aren't pits but just white specks in the stone.
Chrysocolla. I got this in my Christmas exchange box with Titania. It has a fair amount of hematite in it that didn't show up in the photo.
Carnelian. This came in a box from Woodyrock that I won in the PIF auctions. This was the end cut and had a big fracture through it but the color was sooo pretty I couldn't throw it into the tumble pile.
Thanks for looking. I'll post the third installment in a couple of days.
