Chasfire, and I went for a mountain bike ride up Mount Saint Helens fossicking for carnelian Thursday. Here is what I found, much as I found it....no pressure washing yet. The dirt hides the colours a wee bit, but it is in a bus box, and weighs about twenty five pounds. I found all of this by walking the creeks, whist Chasfire was off on the ridged searching for an old (40 year old) dig site, which he did find, and pulled some very nice material from. Finding an old dig site in the wet side of Washington, is not like finding one in the western deserts that you can see for miles away. I think I walked right over it without seeing it. But then, I step on exposed pieces of carnelian without seeing them. Woody

Ah man, nice rocks. I know, I know, I say it all the time, but gosh I just love the Pacific Northwest. Your finds make it even more so.

Hey Woody! I went up to an area I think you're familiar with on Monday...Salmon Creek outside of Toledo! I went up more to get my bearings than anything else. Creek was kinda fast but I did manage to pick up a small handfull of agates/carns.
the biggest thing I came back with are skeeter bites on my calves the size of quarters! Next time deet is going with me!

Woody cool stuff you found. I'm still tumbling some of the stuff we traded last year...sure it is hard rock that carnelian.
