Since I live in such a small place, the only real place I have to work is the kitchen.
Are there any portable or small grinding units and/or saws that I can safely work with?
As always ... Julie

Price and size will have a lot to do with what is "best". I have quite a few "snowbird" customer that cab at their kitchen tables with their Genies. Not cheap but available with accessory water cooled trim saw attachment. Next one down size and price is the Pixie also with trim saw attachment available. The baby in the Diamond Pacific family is the Big Foot. Really tiny and also has trim saw option. None of their equipment is low priced but quality is great and all have 6 wheels. Most water trim saws could be used indoors without excessive mess if you are careful and don't overfill.

I forget the Cab Mate. That would be a great choice without paying an arm and a leg. An Ameritool flat lap and trim saw (or MK145 trim saw) would be good choices also.

My flat lap is really portable(if you like working with a flat lap). It wieghs only about 10 or 15 pounds and is 10"X10" x12"H.

My Ameritool is extremely portable. And is self contained, doesn't make a mess. I take it on rock digs and shows with me. The Q 7" tile saw from Lowe's isn't so portable because I have it in a mortar pan because it is so messy. The WF from Home Depot is the same. Ken ;D

Have you considered building your own cabmate type unit to dedicate to trim saw applications, and then a flat lap for all your other needs? or do a combination machine?
With a couple 5 gallon buckets.. one for clean water, a 110vac water pump with a T in the feed line and a return line to the clean water bucket (think return line on an electric fuel pump on a car) and a drain to a 5 gallon catch bucket you could do your own easy to clean up portable unit sized for your available work space, and built to your needs.
Just an idea... and no I've not built this myself yet..but it IS the basic water system I will be using on my multi-station cab machine, and my flat lap.

Unsure for sawing but one of our Santa Cruz members uses an Ameritool unit to do cabmaking demonstrations at our annual show. No sink nearby at all.
